Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison confirms he will have pelvic surgery in emotional interview

Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil star Richarlison has confirmed that he will undergo surgery on a pelvic injury that has seemingly troubled him for a while.

The Brazilian forward has been left out of Fernando Diniz’s squad for Brazil’s games in November. He was also an unused substitute in Tottenham’s 4-1 league loss to Chelsea at home in the Premier League.

After the game against the Blues, ‘Richy’ told ESPN Brazil (h/t BBC):

“The last few months haven’t been easy for me. I’ve also been suffering with my health. I’ve already spoken to the doctors and I’ll soon have surgery on my pubis.”

It is important that Richarlison recovers well and puts this situation behind him. It would also aid Tottenham in the long run. Rather than risking him in the coming weeks, it is best to keep him out on the sidelines and only use him when he is fully fit again.

What next for Richy and Spurs?

The player’s health is always of paramount importance. It does come at a bad time for the club, though, given James Maddison’s injury in the loss against Chelsea.

That, and the fact that Richy is one of the guys Spurs would have counted on after Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich. The former Everton man hasn’t been among the goals.

But what he brings in the final third is always vital for the team. He can run, dribble, pass, and shoot. He is a complete player in that regard who can play in every position in attack and in the No. 10 role as well.

TRhe 26-year-old’s absence will be a big blow for Tottenham. But this is the time when the squad’s depth will be tested. It is vital that we keep Son Heung-min fit during this time.
