Darren Bent says Aaron Ramsdale won’t get into Tottenham’s starting XI
Darren Bent has claimed that Aaron Ramsdale can play for a lot of top clubs but there is no way he is getting into Tottenham’s starting XI ahead of Guglielmo Vicario.
Spurs seem to have struck gold with Vicario. There were a lot of questions over how the club would replace someone as successful as Hugo Lloris. In Vicario, they have found the perfect heir to the throne.
No one knew much about Guglielmo Vicario. His signing came as a total surprise. However, it is a testament to the scouting network that we have in Italy and also tells us why we have so many successful signings from the Italian league.
What is going on with Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal is absolutely baffling. The star of their season last year, along with a host of others, Mikel Arteta has benched him in favour of Spanish shot-stopper David Raya.
Ramsdale is definitely talented but there is no we are swapping Vicario out for the English international. The Italian has proven to be a revelation for Spurs in these few months into the new season.
Speaking to talkSPORT, here is what Darren Bent had to say about Ramsdale and Vicario
“You look at Aaron Ramsdale and you look at the Premier League table. There are a lot of clubs, by the way, he could go to and play. It’s a shame. I think he would play there (Chelsea). I think he would play there (Newcastle United) ahead of Pope. Nah because their goalkeeper is different class. Vicario, he is unbelievable.”
It is not sustainable for Arsenal in the long run to have two keepers of Ramsdale and Raya’s quality. One of the two would have to be sacrificed and both are two top keepers in their own regard.
Vicario looks set to hold his position in between the sticks for many years to come. The Italian shot-stopper might not have the most prolific of international careers awaiting him due to Donnaruma’s presence but his club career could flourish big time.
