Berbatov picks out Tottenham player who needs to ‘step up’ when Heung-min Son leaves for International duty.
Former Manchester United forward, Dimitar Berbatov has singled out a Tottenham player. He believes that Richarlison needs to pick up the slack when Heung-min Son travels for International duty.
Tottenham Hotspur are about to get a big blow. Heung-min Son will soon take a leave from the team as he prepares to join his country’s team for the Asian Cup. Son has been the team’s lead producer since the departure of Harry Kane.
The 31-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Lilywhites this season. He has recorded 10 goals and four assists during that stretch (transfermarkt). An impressive display from the team’s skipper. His contributions will be sorely missed next month.
Berbatov has pegged Richarlison to be the difference maker during Son’s absence from the squad. Let’s have a look at what the former Manchester United forward had to say. (h/t Metro)
“Richarlison will need to step up even more when Son is not there and now he is scoring goals.”
He also said that the Spurs will most likely edge out Everton for the win during their upcoming matchup. Richarlison has grabbed five goals and three assists for the team this season (transfermarkt). He will likely have a huge role to play in their game against Everton as well.
Tottenham are currently fifth on the Premier League table with 33 points. They are six points behind table-toppers Arsenal who have 39. Son’s absence can cause this gap to grow even larger as the squad is already stretched pretty thin.

Richarlison must step up and produce for the team during their upcoming games. But, leaving it all on his shoulders isn’t fair. Others among the squad must also rally behind Postecoglou as the team looks to end the year on a strong note.
