Tottenham Hotspur target Jean-Claire Todibo in the upcoming transfer window but OGC Nice will try to make life difficult
According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the OGC Nice defender Jean-Claire Todibo in the upcoming transfer window but it is looking like the parent club will try to make the transfer a bit difficult.
Nice may wait for a summer bidding battle for the young French international, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest young defensive prospects in Europe. Top teams from around the continent and the Premier League are vying for his services.
This season, the France international has made 14 appearances, starting every one of them and dishing up one assist. Additionally, he has two caps for his nation. He made his senior debut against Germany in September and then played Gibraltar in November.

Todibo has been one of their bright spots, and they are presently only five points behind PSG in Ligue 1. This makes any possible January exit all the more unpalatable for them and their supporters. The gifted Frenchman would be a valuable addition to Tottenham, especially with star defender Micky van de Ven out due to a hamstring injury.
For Tottenham, who are eager to bolster their defence in January, this is awful news. The North Londoners are unlikely to have an easy time getting an agreement over the line, even if they have opened exploratory discussions with Nice for the player.
Furthermore, Tottenham could find it difficult to match Nice’s asking price and might ultimately lose out. Ange Postecolou has two reliable centre-backs in Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. The latter’s injury has exposed Tottenham’s defensive shortcomings, and the team has subsequently given up on their perfect start to the 2023–24 Premier League season.
