Rudy Galetti has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are no longer looking to sign Al-Ittihad outcast
Rudy Galetti has confirmed in a social media post that Tottenham Hotspur are no longer looking to sign Al-Ittihad outcast Jota. The 24-year-old has been left off the list of foreign players allowed in squads for league duty.
Ever since the decision was made the Portuguese Winger has only been appearing in Cup competitions and friendly matches for the Saudi Arabia side. Any hopes of an exit via the Lilywhites have now been extinguished.
During his time at Celtic FC, the 24-year-old was exceptional for the team. Throughout 83 appearances, Jota managed to find the back of the net 28 times and even got 26 assists for his team (Transfermarkt). Stats that made him sought after by many clubs.
His decision to head over to Saudi Arabia seems to have come back to haunt Jota. Now that Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out he will have to wait for another team to come along. Hopefully, other clubs out there are ready to give him a chance to play.
Fans were looking forward to seeing Jota don the Tottenham shirt. He would have been a welcome addition to the Lilywhites who are currently struggling with injuries.
Moreover, with Son Heung-min departing for international duty, now would’ve been the perfect time to bring the Portuguese midfielder in.
Now, fans will be counting on the comeback of James Maddison. In 12 appearances for the team, the English midfielder has recorded three goals and six assists (Transfermarkt). Postecoglou will be counting on his playmaking with Son missing from the roster.
