Tottenham are in pursuit of a Ligue 1 defender dealings could get complicated as rival clubs are also interested in the player
Tottenham have been very transparent with their plans to sign Ligue 1 defender Jean-Clair Todibo. But, getting a deal done could get tricky for the Premier League team as their rivals have now entered the fray.
Their first obstacle towards the signing of Todibo is time. The Lilywhites want to get a deal done as soon as possible. But, OGC Nice has not been so happy about the idea of losing their star defender and have been stalling for time.
The other and possibly more deadly obstacle is Chelsea and Manchester United. Both of these teams are also in the running for the French defender, as reported by French publication Footmercato. The Premier League giants will soon be battling for the 24-year-old.
While Chelsea might not pose much of a threat the real trouble is Manchester United. Todibo in the past has said that he would be happy to play for the Old Trafford squad. It is unlikely that the player will choose Tottenham over the Red Devils.
But, that won’t trouble the fans a lot. The Lilywhites have plenty of targets that they wish to sign this January. If Todibo doesn’t come Radu Dragusin might and if that doesn’t happen the team can always go for Giorgio Scalvini.
There is no shortage of talent for Tottenham to pursue this January. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the team will be able to acquire said talent. Hopefully, the first month of 2024 won’t be disappointing for the Spurs’ fans.
