Tottenham Hotspur might need to pay €12m to the Spanish giants FC Barcelona for Jean-Clair Todibo
According to the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur might need to pay €12m to the Spanish giants FC Barcelona if they need to get the signature of Jean-Clair Todibo anytime soon.
Barcelona are having financial problems right now. So they are looking for any available cash, especially because this month is their winter transfer window time and they want to bolster their squad.
Todibo’s time at Barça was brief, but his arrival was undoubtedly a smart financial move, regardless of whether he ends up being transferred to England. In January 2019, he made the move from Toulouse to Barca for a minimal fee. In June 2021, Barcelona decided to finalise the transfer of Todibo to French club Nice. The deal was worth 8.5 million euros, with an additional 7 million euros in potential variables.
There seems to be quite a buzz around Jean-Clair Todibo, with Tottenham Hotspur showing keen interest in the player. As part of the deal to sell the Frenchman to Nice, Barcelona cleverly negotiated a 20% sell-on clause, allowing them to potentially profit from it in the future.
It comes as no surprise that the Ligue 1 team are determined to retain Todibo, but the overwhelming amount of interest suggests that the winter transfer window will feel never-ending for them.
However, Spurs are in dire need of an additional player in that position. Todibo is not just a mere presence, but it’s time to take a bold risk. Securing his signature would be a major achievement.
