Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou gives positive update on Micky Van de Ven’s injury
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano via X, Micky Van de Ven has finally started to train with the team but there is still uncertainty if he can start the next game for Tottenham Hotspur against Burnley in the FA Cup game.
Postecoglou said:
“Micky van de Ven has trained this week. Not sure about tomorrow’s game but he might be involved in the squad, it’s good to get him back. We have to be careful with Micky but yes, it looks positive”.
For a long time, Tottenham haven’t been doing well in the FA Cup. Even though losing in the Carabao Cup was a problem for Postecoglou during his early time at North London, he wants to guide his team well in this big competition. Micky van de Ven hasn’t played since early November because he hurt his hamstring in the 4-1 defeat against Chelsea.
Having Van de Ven back is definitely a welcome addition for Postecoglou. Cristian Romero has unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury during the match against Everton last month, which will keep him out of action for a few weeks.
He was a member of a team that had an unbeaten streak in their first 10 Premier League matches, but unfortunately, Ange Postecoglou’s squad was greatly affected by injuries and suspensions.
The timeline for the Argentine’s return is still uncertain. Postecoglou’s options in central defence have been worryingly limited. Van de Ven is likely to make a comeback to the starting XI, as Postecoglou has been deploying Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as temporary centre-backs.
The 22-year-old is very important to the way Tottenham plays. His fast recovery pace helps keep Postecoglou’s team safe in defence more than normal. Even though he might not be ready to play against Burnley yet, it would simply be amazing if the Dutchman returned in time for Manchester United.

Although it may be too early for the Dutchman to return against Burnley, it would be absolutely fantastic to have him back in the team as soon as possible.
