A closer look at the Tottenham predecessors of Radu Dragusin

Radu Dragusin has finally arrived at Tottenham Hotspur. As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the Romanian defender will be wearing the number 6 during his time with the Spurs. There is a lot of history attached to this number. Let’s take a closer look.

Davison Sanchez donned the number #6 during his time in Tottenham. The Colombian defender served as a rock for the Lilywhites’ defensive line. Fans will be expecting Dragusin to do the same during his time with the club.

Don McAllister is a legend of the club, he donned the number #6 for the club and was present during their relegation in 1977 and their promotion in 1978. He played a pivotal role in helping the team to an FA Cup win back in 1981. Hopefully, Dragusin will also help in adding a trophy to Tottenham’s barren showcase.

Up next we have Tom Huddlestone. The English midfielder was the best passer on the team as confirmed by the manager at the time Harry Redknapp. His command over the ball was excellent and he was solid when deployed as a defensive midfielder. Huddlestone won the Premier League with Tottenham back in 2008.

Gary Mabbut is another legend who has donned number six in the past. He completed a 16-year stint with the club and was even the captain for over a decade. Mabbut led the team to the UEFA Cup back in 1984 this was followed by a win in the FA Cup in 1991.

His command over Tottenham’s defensive line has not been replicated since his departure. Few exist who can step in the shoes of Mabbut and achieve the same results that he did. Teammates remember him as an excellent defender and an even better teammate.
