Chelsea’s EFL Cup final appearance postpones their EPL clash with Tottenham Hotspur

The much-awaited London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and the Blues will have to wait a bit longer following Chelsea‘s Carabao Cup semifinal victory, per Football London. The rivals were scheduled to clash on February 23 at Stamford Bridge. The EFL final will be on February 25 against Fulham or Liverpool.

There is no news on the new date yet but the Premier League should announce it soon. Chelsea overturned the 1-0 deficit to defeat Michael Carrick‘s Middlesborough 6-1 at home. They are the first team to enter the finals, with one among Fulham or Liverpool joining them.

Tottenham Hotspur have their own busy schedule in the coming days. It all starts with the Manchester City clash in the fourth round of the FA Cup on 27th January. Followed by Premier League fixtures on 1st February and 3rd February against Brentford and Everton respectively.

The Lilywhites boss will be looking forward to capitalising on the return of his major players. Ange is chasing two targets simultaneously with eyes on the Premier League top-four spot and the FA Cup glory.

A bitter wait for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham’s fine run that included 10 unbeaten Premier League games was put to an end by Chelsea. Experiencing such an event at the hands of rivals is one thing but against an out-of-form club should hurt more.

The blame however goes to the Tottenham players, particularly Romero and Udogi for their recklessness. The North London outfit did find an early lead but succumbed to layer with only nine men on the pitch.

Nicolas Jackson’s hat trick was the highlight of the game. Tottenham fans are impatiently waiting for the reverse fixture and maybe hoping to give them a taste of their own medicine. Spurs are in a much better situation than the Blues at the moment.
