Multiple clubs enter the race with Tottenham Hotspur for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee

Tottenham Hotspur face a threat from Aston Villa and a few others over the possible signing of Joshua Zirkzee, per Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web. Ange Postecoglou’s side are going all guns blazing this transfer window and the Bologna striker is one of their next targets.

Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin are the newest names to make it into the Spurs roster. Werner arrived as a loanee from RB Lepzieg and the latter joined permanently from Genoa. Antonio Nusa is another prime target for The Lilywhites but it appears that Newcastle United stand in between.

This has left Tottenham Hotspur chasing new targets, with Zirkzee being one of the leading names. He is having a scintillating season with the Serie A outfit. He has seven goals and two assists from 19 Serie A games this season.

Harry Kane’s departure has left Spurs yearning for a prolific goalscorer. Sadly, no one has been able to fill the void left by the England captain. Richarlison was expected to step up but his form has never been consistent.

Too many foes to fight

A player of Joshua Zirkzee’s calibre will not be left alone. He is now one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, wanted by many. Tottenham wouldn’t have to sweat much to convince the Bologna star to join them rather than Aston Villa.

However, it is not just Aston Villa that stand as a threat. According to Football 365, the Dutchman is being chased by Erik ten Hag and Mikel Arteta. His former club Bayern Munich is also rumoured to have entered the race.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker. Zirkzee should be considered one of these destinations as there are better chances for him to find a solid spot in the starting XI.

Ange Postecoglou will need to convince the 22-year-old a bit too much with a crowded attacking front at his dispersal. With only a few more days left for the transfer window to shut, let us wait and see what the Aussie manager pulls out of the hat.
