Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou provides positive injury update on James Maddison
In what comes as a big boost ahead of Spurs’ FA Cup clash against Manchester City, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou provided a positive update on James Maddison, as he nears a return from injury. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder lit up Spurs’ campaign in the early part of the season and was a major reason why Tottenham were leading the charts.
However, ever since Madders’ ankle ligament injury in early November, Spurs’ campaign has also somewhat derailed. In 12 appearances across all competitions before his injury, Maddison had three goals and six assists to his name.
Let’s brush that aside though. Maddison is back in the Tottenham squad and ready to start the FA Cup clash with Manchester City as per boss Ange Postecoglou who provided an injury update. Here is what he had to say via the Evening Standard:
“Team news, everyone’s ok from the last game. Deki’s [Dejan Kulusevski] recovered from his illness,”
“The boys had four days off last week, which was good for them.”
“Post-that, Madders has been training with us, he’s had a full training week. He’s in a good place. Ben [Davies] and Dane Scarlett have just started back with the group as well. So we’re getting the numbers back up.”
Moreover, Dejan Kulusevski has also recovered from his illness which kept him out of the squad against Manchester United in the Premier League.
Heading closer to full strength!
Furthermore, Ben Davies and Dane Scarlett have started training with the group, marking progress in their return to full fitness. The team’s overall health is improving, with key players gradually rejoining the squad.
James Maddison’s comeback is pivotal for Tottenham’s aspirations in the FA Cup and the Premier League. His ability to unlock defences, contribute goals, and provide a creative spark adds a dynamic element to Spurs’ attacking play. With Maddison back in the mix, Tottenham aims to make a strong push for a top-four finish and close the gap in the title race. Having a fully fit and talented squad becomes crucial. Postecoglou’s management and tactical acumen will remain tested as he integrates returning players and aims to guide Tottenham to success on multiple fronts.
With the FA Cup clash against Manchester City on the horizon, Maddison’s availability surely presents an exciting prospect for Tottenham. His inclusion in the starting lineup could inject creativity and dynamism into the team, offering Postecoglou more tactical options to navigate the challenges posed by a formidable opponent.
