Injury update on Tottenham as Lilywhites gear up to face Brentford
Tottenham Hotspur gear up for a Premier League clash against Brentford on Wednesday night as Ange Postecoglou hopes to get back to winning ways after drawing their last league game against Manchester United, before losing out to Manchester City in the FA Cup.
The Lilywhites face a lot of injury issues but irrespective of that, Ange has not shied away from playing his attacking style of football even though it has not yielded positive results each time.
Nevertheless, the upcoming London Derby presents a strong chance for Tottenham to get back to winning ways and make use of Brentford’s poor form heading into the game. The Bees have won only one of their last five games and Spurs would hope for that losing streak to continue. Here is a squad update for the Lilywhites.
Israeli winger Manor Solomon‘s still out due to a knee injury. The 24-year-old is making progress in his recovery. However, hopes of an imminent return appear premature. The attacker is expected to need a few more weeks before returning to action.
Injuries galore at Spurs
Alejo Veliz remains ruled out with a knee injury sustained against Bournemouth. The timeframe for his return stands estimated to be a “couple of months,” with expectations set around the start of March.
Giovani Lo Celso picked up a hamstring issue earlier in the month. The Argentine midfielder is not expected to be fit for selection until mid-February at the earliest. Skipper Son Heung-min continues to remain unavailable as he represents South Korea in the Asian Cup. He is preparing for a crucial last-16 match against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma remain unavailable due to their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and Mali respectively. Ryan Sessegnon recently dealt with a hamstring issue but is likely to be available for the upcoming clash against Brentford on January 31.
