Tottenham Hotspur approach Atalanta for talented midfielder Ederson
Tottenham strengthen Ederson’s pursuit from Atalanta following the advice of the club’s former sporting director Fabio Paratici, per Team Talk. It is to be learned that the club chairman pays heed to Paratici’s words, making the Ederson a likely favourite to join Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side have been facing snubs lately in terms of incoming transfers. Antonio Nusa, Arthur Veremeeren and Kalvin Phillips were close to joining the North Londoners but changed their destinations eventually. This has urged The Lilywhites to land a player before the transfer window shuts close.
The need for a midfielder seems important after Tottenham reinforced their defence and attack with Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner respectively. With Conor Gallagher’s move hanging by the thread, Spurs now shift focus to Ederson, who is a crucial figure at Atalanta.
The defensive midfielder has five goals and an assist to his name from 21 Serie A games this season. His goal-scoring and chance-creation attributes can be crucial for the club, especially to back James Maddison.
Fabio Paratici’s ‘continued’ ties with Spurs
The Italian was forced to resign as the club’s transfer lead following his 30-month worldwide FIFA ban from all footballing activities. The ban came into existence for his role in alleged false accounting during his stint at Juventus.
However, despite losing his official position at the club, Paratici remains a close ally of Daniel Levy and ‘advices’ the latter on potential moves. The former Spurs sporting director clearly has expertise among Italian players, having facilitated moves that included Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
The ‘unofficial consultant’ has now urged the club to look for Ederson. Tottenham’s Chief Football Officer Scott Munn heads the recruitment department. He is assisted by technical director Johan Lange.
