Tottenham star James Maddison suggests Neal Maupay must score more goals to have a celebration of his own

Tottenham star James Maddison responds to Neal Maupay‘s ‘mocking celebration’ while talking to TNT Sport in the post-match interview, per BBC Sport. Maupey opened the scoreline with a 15th-minute strike for the visitors. The goal was followed by the ‘dart-throw celebration’, which is Maddison’s signature celebration.

Tottenham responded with three second-half goals and the goal scorers (Brennan Johnson and Richarlison) supported James Maddison by doing the ‘dart throwing’ celebration to hit back at Neal Maupay. Maddison said:

“I just said to him, he hasn’t scored enough goals of his own in the last few years to have his own celebration, so he had to copy mine. Short story, ended well for us.”

James Maddison and his side had the last laugh from the face-off. Tottenham Hotspur regained a position in the top four. The North Londoners are tied with Aston Villa in all aspects. However, the Lilywhites lead in terms of ‘goals scored’.

What next for Ange & Co.?

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium outfits have 16 games left in the Premier League. They have bowed out of every other competition, with the focus just on the English top tier. Tottenham are eight points clear of league leaders Liverpool.

The remainder of the season is long enough to help the Spurs salvage their situation, and if luck favours, also gun for the title. The club’s current form gives their fans a positive sign. The real challenge will be during the final stages of the tournament when Spurs will face Newcastle United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in a row.

Apart from Arsenal, all of Tottenham’s rivals are displaying a fine performance. Liverpool thrashed Chelsea 4-1 while Man City is crushing everything on their path, announcing Kevin de Bruyne’s return.

For Tottenham to have any hopes for the season, it is important Liverpool and City slip on a few occasions. They will be turning to Arsenal for help, who has their own agenda. The remainder of the season should be mouth-watering, just as always!
