Chelsea set to snap up Tottenham CCO Todd Kline who is on gardening leave
According to Daily Telegraph Football News Correspondent Matt Law, Chelsea is set to hire Tottenham Hotspur‘s commercial chief officer Todd Kline. Italian journo Fabrizio Romano shared the news via his X handle.
Todd Kline has resigned from his post but has been placed on ‘gardening leave’, meaning the American is still on Spurs’ payroll. The duo will part ways for good as soon as he accepts the offer from The Blues.
Kline joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2021 to help the club land a ‘massive’ naming rights partner for the new stadium. The Standard mentions that Todd Kline is one of the best in business having previously secured a £180 million deal for the Miami Dolphins with Hard Rock.
However, the luck didn’t shine on him while in North London. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remains without a sponsor despite Kline’s three years with the club.
What’s Chelsea’s take on Todd Kline
Despite failing to deliver what was expected, Chelsea seem to believe in the American. The Blues are on the lookout for a sponsor and they believe Kline is the right man. Chelsea is reportedly planning to build a new stadium that would see an increase in capacity and raise its standards.
From the looks of it, the Blues might need a sponsor for their new stadium, thus they are willing to hire the former Tottenham exec. The Stamford Bridge residents are also on the lookout for new shirt sponsors for next season. The club’s deal with sports data company Infinite Athlete ends by the end of the current campaign.
