Declan Rice admires Tottenham Hotspur performance as title race gathers momentum
Arsenal’s ‘big-money’ midfielder Declan Rice cites Tottenham Hotspur as worthy competitors for the title race this term in a post-match interview as tweeted by beIN SPORTS. Declan Rice’s side thrashed the top-placed Liverpool 3-1 last Sunday.
The Gunner midfielder was asked if he thinks Arsenal are favourites to win the title as they have already defeated Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool this season. The former West Ham man responded by saying,
“Look, I think you have to take it one game at a time. This league is so volatile. It’s up and down and up and down all the time. You can move positions. Aston Villa are playing very well. Spurs are playing very well.”
The 25-year-old displayed a stand-out performance against The Reds to take all three points home. He was quite diplomatic while commenting about his club’s chances to win the title despite the thumping victory against the league leaders.
The volatile league, indeed!
The Premier League is quite volatile as cited by the Gunner. It is true to every word, isn’t it? It is for this reason that the Premier League is often regarded as the most difficult domestic league in the world.
Even though Pep Guardiola’s squadron is considered clear favourites every season, there are always high chances for a quick turnaround just as in this season. The Sky Blues’ performance took a nosedive during November and early December, losing them the top spot.
Liverpool were quick to take their spot and continue the rampage. Now Arsenal has shown them they are pretty much in the competition, with the minnows, Aston Villa trailing them. Ange Postecoglou’s men are considered high-level owing to their squad depth.
