Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not discount Tottenham in the Premier League title race
Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side lead the Premier League charts closely followed by Manchester City and Arsenal. Tottenham currently lie fourth, sitting seven points behind Klopp’s men. That’s one place and one point ahead of Aston Villa, who were trailing 1-0 to Manchester United at HT on Sunday.
According to Klopp, it is too early to count Villa and Tottenham off in the race for the league title and here is what he had to say about the same via the Express after beating Burnley 3-1 at Anfield:
“I know it’s every week (the title race),”
“You add in Tottenham – who got a big win for them today. Villa play tomorrow. They are all in the mix and Arsenal obviously.”
Liverpool have only lost twice domestically this season, and both of them, coincidentally, have come in North London. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal recently beat them 3-1 while their matchup against us ended rather controversially, with the Lilywhites securing a 2-1 result.
Despite sitting seven points behind Liverpool, Tottenham’s recent form and resilience have caught Klopp’s attention, prompting him to include them in the conversation about potential title contenders. With Aston Villa also in the mix, Klopp recognizes the unpredictability of the title race and the need for Liverpool to maintain their focus and consistency as they navigate through a challenging season.
Keep Going!!
With the race for the league title heating up, every point matters, and Tottenham must understand the importance of not underestimating the competition, regardless of their current standing in the table.
The Lilywhites’ resilience and determination have seen them overcome challenges and secure crucial results, positioning them as genuine contenders in the title race. While Liverpool may lead the way for now, Klopp’s recognition of Tottenham’s potential serves as a testament to the competitive landscape of the Premier League and the uncertainty that accompanies each matchday.
As the season unfolds, Tottenham will look to build on their recent successes and continue their pursuit of the title, knowing that they have the backing of their manager and the respect of their competitors.
