Son Heung-min showed appreciation for his Tottenham Hotspur teammates who gave him ‘what he needed’ following his return
Tottenham Hotspur superstar, Son Heung-min recently returned to the club. He was away on international duty and was leading the South Korean team through the Asian Cup. Unfortunately, Son couldn’t see them through till the end as his team exited the tournament during the semifinals.
A crushing 2-0 defeat against Jordan sent the South Korean star packing home. Fortunately, Son got exactly ‘what he needed’ from his teammates following his heartbreak at the Asian Cup. Here’s what the 31-year-old had to say about the reception he received. (h/t Tottenham Hotspur)
“As soon as I came back they gave me the biggest hug, which at that time I needed! It was such a warm welcome.”
There will always be more tournaments, but for now, the Tottenham star has returned and is ready to kick off the second half of the season with his team.
Tottenham have sorely missed Son’s contributions during his time away from the club. He has recorded 12 goals and six assists for the team through just 22 appearances. Following their injury-riddled first half, Ange Postecoglou can finally play at close to full strength during the second half of the season.
James Maddison has returned from his injury and despite his prolonged absence from the game, the 27-year-old has not missed a step. He currently sits at three goals and seven assists in 16 appearances this season. With 14 PL games to go, these numbers will surely look much different by the end.
