Carlton Palmer believes Leeds United needs to pay much less of what Tottenham Hotspur wants for Joe Rodon

According to LeedsLive, football pundit Carlton Palmer believes that Leeds United should pay less than the asking amount of £10-15m fee for the Tottenham Hotspur player Joe Rodon. The Welshman has truly impressed for Leeds this season and is a sure shot selection in Daniel Farke’s first XI.

Speaking to Football League World, Carlton said:

“I think £10 to 15 million is a lot, a lot of money, so at the end of the season Leeds United are going to have a look at when they get promoted, see where they see it at. I think [Rodon’s value] is about £8 million.”

Tottenham have placed a valuation of £10 to £15 million on the Welsh centre-back, as Leeds show interest in securing his permanent transfer. The Whites are currently in a good position to secure promotion, and their ability to secure Rodon permanently may hinge on their immediate return to the Premier League.

If Leeds wish to keep the player and not let him leave in the summer, they will have to negotiate a long-term deal with Spurs during the summer transfer window. They cannot secure him immediately as there is no option to buy in the current loan arrangement.

Leeds United wants to sign the Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.

Nevertheless, according to Palmer, Spurs’ asking price is too high, and he believes that £8 million could be a more reasonable price for the 26-year-old. He is confident that after promotion, Rodon would be able to excel in the Premier League for Leeds.

It appears that Rodon’s preference would be to play in the Premier League, and understandably so. However, it seems unlikely that Ange Postecoglou has any plans to include him in his squad. Therefore, it may be in Rodon’s best interest to stick with Leeds, regardless of their league status.

After enduring a challenging period in London, the 26-year-old has finally found a place to rejuvenate his career. It is crucial for him to remain committed to Farke’s side, as that should be his main focus.

Financial stability is achieved through promotion to the Premier League. Given that Rodon is playing a key role in the promotion battle, we hope Leeds securing a return to the Premier League will free up funds for them to meet out asking price. After all, he has the potential to become a key player for the Yorkshire side in the long run.
