Ange Postecoglou says being a PL manager is tough while wishing Roy Hodgson a speedy recovery
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou respects Roy Hodgson’s privacy in tough times in the pre-match press conference, according to Football London. The Aussie was asked if he would like to comment on the Hodgson situation. He replied:
I don’t think it is my place to talk about Roy or his situation right now, or his health for that matter because they are all private matters. But everyone knows the standing he has in the game.
Postecoglou went on to highlight the pressure that comes with being a Premier League manager. He says it is a ‘weird occupation’. Ange also emphasized the part of the job where many dictate and create a narrative where managers are pretty much finished.
The Lilywhites gaffer was diplomatic while answering the question about the Crystal Palace boss. He did not get into much detail but made sure to extend the support for his colleague.
The Roy Hodgson situation
The former England manager isn’t having a smooth season with Crystal Palace this season. To make things worse, Hodgson was taken ill during the training session on Thursday. He was taken to hospital immediately and is stable right now, per BBC Sport.
The Eagles cancelled the press conference scheduled on Friday ahead of the Everton clash after the 76-year-old boss became unwell. Rumours about Hodgson’s sacking were taking rounds on Thursday morning.
The news of him being sick followed right after and the club confirmed the same via their X (formerly Twitter) handle. Palace are 15th on the league table, averaging one point per game. The British media outlet BBC also reports that he is soon to be sacked.
