Ange Postecoglou believes Tottenham star James Maddison is fit and ready
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou shares his views on James Maddison‘s recent form during the post-match press conference, reports Football London. The gaffer was asked if he thinks Maddison is taking too long to get back to his best form. The manager responded:
“I wouldn’t think so, he’s ready, he’s fit”.
He went on to emphasize how Tottenham isn’t a team relying on individuals to win games. He also added that whatever they have achieved so far has been the result of collective efforts. Furthermore, the Aussie said he does not possess any player who can change the course alone.
James Maddison sustained an ankle injury in November and was out of action for two-and-a-half months. The former Leicester man’s form has seen a significant drop upon return.
The Spurs number 10 has only one assist in his four games as opposed to three goals and six assists before his injury. Maddison’s form has often influenced his team’s performance this season. While the manager believes there is not much change, the fans will be hoping for Maddison to step up.
James Maddison — The catalyst
It won’t be an exaggeration to say James Maddison is the conductor of the opera called Tottenham Hotspur. He has defined the club’s form through his performance.
Tottenham tasted no defeat while Maddison was on the pitch. Things changed drastically during the 27-year-old’s absence from the Spurs side, starting from the 1-4 defeat against Chelsea, where he was subbed after half-time.
Maddison returned for the Brentford fixture on 31st January. He has since played four games for the Lilywhites, amassing two wins, a draw and a defeat. The midfielder looks a bit rusty even though he manages to produce moments of magic.
