Frenkie de Jong warns the media for spreading rumours about his exit amid Tottenham transfer links

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong lashes out at the media for spreading rumours about his exit from the club amidst Tottenham links, per Football London. He addressed the media ahead of the Napoli fixture and said:

“If I’m honest, I am getting quite irritated lately. I am very angry at what you (media) write or say about me. There are a lot of stories that are simply not true.”

The former Ajax man did not hold back his words. He was quite stern while criticising the media for writing ‘lies’ all the time. Spanish journalist Gerard Romero reported about de Jong’s possible exit from Catalunya and Tottenham’s attempt to sign him.

The former Ajax man’s stance has sent a clear message about his immediate future. It is true that Ange Postecoglou is in the market for a midfielder and if it was Frenkie de Jing then he better look for other options.

Manchester United hurt in the process

While Tottenham’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong is more of a rumour, such wasn’t the case for Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils manager was hoping to reunite with his Ajax colleague sooner or later.

The Dutchman has been eyeing the young midfielder over a couple of transfer windows now. However, Barcelona were reluctant to sell their player. de Jong’s revelations about his contentment in Barcelona have further broken United’s dreams of having him.

Erik ten Hag wishes to have his former Ajax superstar Frenkie de Jong at Manchester

Just like Ange, Erik ten Hag is in dire need of a creative midfielder. Somehow the La Liga midfielders are known for their creativity and swiftness. This makes the 26-year-old playmaker a much-wanted choice for the two EPL giants.
