Former Tottenham Hotspur goalie hails ‘talented’ Lucas Bergvall

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Paul Robinson says Lucas Bergvall will immediately secure his place in the team’s starting XI in an interview with Tottenham Hotspur News. Bergvall joined the North Londoners after snubbing Barcelona.

The 18-year-old continues to play in Djurgarden and will be joining the Lilywhites ahead of the next season. The creative midfielder will be joining his first ‘big club’. He is already praised from all around with Paul Robinson being one of them. He says:

“From what I hear about the player he’s a real talent. We’re not overly versed on watching his games or know too much about him, but now that you know that Tottenham have signed him and you’ve done a bit of research on him you know that Tottenham were going head-to-head with Barcelona to sign him.”

Tottenham will have to play a friendly game against Djurgarden to sign Lucas Bergvall.

Robinson added that he does not think Lucas Bergvall will be another youngster at Spurs who would be loaned out. The Swedish international appears to be a part of Ange’s long-term plans.

A wise move for both parties

What Lucas Bergvall did is not usual. After all, the choice was often easy for a prodigy to choose between Barcelona and Tottenham. However, Bergvall picking Spurs shows the player’s understanding of the game and his immediate future.

The Catalans are going through turmoil lagging in the La Liga race and out of almost all major competitions. Moreover, Xavi announced his exit from the club by the end of the season. These factors were enough for the Sweden international to choose North London as his next home.

The club turned into an attacking threat under their new boss this season. Despite a few slip-ups, Tottenham are still strong contenders to secure the fourth spot in the PL table.
