Injury update as Tottenham await return of full-back duo Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro

The absence of Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro from the Tottenham lineup was clearly visible when Ange Postecoglou’s side took on Wolves. Spurs saw themselves falter even though they put up a decent performance and lost 2-1 at home to Gary O’Neil’s side.

A knee injury has kept 21-year-old Udogie out of action for a while and 24-year-old Porro has seen himself out due to a strain and both players have missed two games due to their respective injury issues. Udogie appears to be progressing well and stands expected to make a return for Tottenham’s upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace on March 2nd. His potential availability comes as a welcome boost for the team, providing depth and quality to the defensive line.

However, the situation regarding Porro‘s return remains uncertain. The Spanish international may not be ready to make an immediate comeback, indicating that his recovery process might take longer than initially anticipated.

That is according to an update from Alasdair Gold via his YouTube channel. Here is what the Tottenham expert had to say:

“It looks like Udogie should – hopefully – be back in time for the Crystal Palace game. Whereas, Porro maybe not.”

Too many injuries

Udogie’s absence from the lineup was because of discomfort experienced during the match against Brighton, wherein he had to see himself come off the pitch prematurely.

As earlier mentioned, the absence of both players remained noticeable during Tottenham’s recent defeat to Wolves, highlighting the importance of having a fully fit squad, especially during crucial fixtures.

On the other hand, Porro’s injury, described as a muscle issue, poses a more significant concern given his influential role in Tottenham’s attacking play this season. With eight assists to his name, Porro has been a key creative outlet for Spurs, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive output. Porro and Udogie have contributed a total of 14 goals to Postecoglou’s side this season, and have been crucial to how the club builds up play.

The absence of such a prolific playmaker duo from the squad undoubtedly poses a challenge for manager Ange Postecoglou, who will need to find alternative solutions to maintain Tottenham’s attacking threat in Porro’s absence. The club’s recent open training session saw both players sidelined as they continue their respective recovery processes.
