Tottenham Hotspur could consider bringing back Kyle Walker-Peters to North London
Kyle Walker-Peters is a product of Tottenham Hotspur academy and has been linked with a return to North London. There have been reports about Daniel Levy looking to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The defender was at Tottenham Hotspur for seven years before eventually leaving for Southampton in 2020. Daniel Levy is believed to have inserted a £30 million buyback clause in the agreement when he sold Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton.
There is a possibility to sign the 26-year-old on a cheaper fee. If Southampton fails to get promoted into the Premier League in the ongoing season then Tottenham can sign Walker-Peters according to a report by transfer Guru David Ornstein writing for The Athletic.
He has gone on to play 154 games for Southampton in all competitions. In those games, Kyle has a tally of five goals and a further nine layoffs to his teammates. An experienced player, he does not just add strength in depth but also gets what it means to play for the club. This is invaluable given the style of football Ange Postecoglou had employed at the Lane.
Leveraging for a cheaper fee
Moreover, Kyle Walker-Peters is also approaching the final year of his contract at St Mary’s. The 26-year-old has only played 24 games in Tottenham Hotspur colours for the first team.
Kyle Walker-Peters is a right-back by trade. He operates efficiently in the right wing-back role. This role suits perfectly to how Ange Postecoglou wants his wide players to operate.

At Tottenham right now Ange Postecoglou has the likes of Emerson Royal and Pedro Porro in the right-back position. Any possible transfer for Kyle Walker-Peters could suggest an end to Emerson Royal’s stint in North London. Southampton and Leeds United are fighting tooth and nail for the final automatic promotion spot in the Championship. With the Saints set to travel to Elland Road on the final day of the season, one could expect Daniel Levy to keep an eye on proceedings.
