Ertan Suzgun of Sports Digitale says Tottenham and Aston Villa are keeping a close watch on Semih Kilicsoy

Leading journalist Ertan Suzgun of Turkish media outlet Sports Digitale says Tottenham have Semih Kilicsoy under the radar. The journo also revealed Spurs’ competitors in the race as Aston Villa. The Besiktas forward has nine goals and one assist from 14 Super League games.

It is reported that both clubs attempted to sign the 18-year-old in January but couldn’t grip the opportunity. Besiktas were reluctant to let go of their prodigy mid-season. However, Villa and Spurs could reignite the chances come summer.

The highly-rated forward seems to be a fine fit in Ange Postecoglou’s plans. For one, the Tottenham boss is eyeing youth talents from all around. Secondly, he is developing Tottenham into a full-fledged attacking-oriented team.

As for Kilicsoy, he has never stepped outside Turkiye. The Premier League league will be a fertile land for the young star to become a polished individual. Out of the two, Tottenham look to be the favourites unless Villa beat them in the top-four race.

The Villa X Spurs battle

While Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are fighting for the Premier League throne, Aston Villa and Tottenham are involved in a race of their own. These two have been shuffling the fourth and fifth positions in the league between them.

As of now, Unai Emery’s men occupy the last spot of the Champions League qualification by a safe margin. Ange and Co. trail by five points with a game in hand. The Lilywhites face 13th-place Crystal Palace the next week.

A win would still leave them two points behind Aston Villa. Tottenham’s journey went from the best to worst within a few months. The club went the first 10 games without tasting defeat and now they are sweating to occupy the fourth place.
