Ange Postecoglou lauds Tottenham prospect Dane Scarlett for positive training impressions

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou confirms Dane Scarlett has trained well this week and could get featured in the Palace clash, according to Football London. The Spurs gaffer was speaking to the media ahead of the Palace clash when he was asked if Richarlison’s injury could open the door for the youngster.

He answered:

“Yeah but the door is never closed. He trains with us every day and all the players are in the same boat. That door is always open. It was great to get him some game-time with the 21s and I think that’s helped him as well. He’s trained well this week.”

Ange’s choice of words and smart responses during the press conference is well known. When asked if the ‘doors are open’ for Scarlett, the boss responded by saying, there are no secret doors, it is always about hard work.

The former Celtic boss confirmed Richarlison will be out of action for the next three or four weeks owing to a knee injury.

Who is Dane Scarlett and what are his chances?

The 19-year-old forward is a popular figure at youth competitions at club and country levels. However, Postecoglou feels the prodigy’s potential hasn’t been unlocked fully. He couldn’t collect considerable playing time throughout the season.

While it is evident that the player won’t be starting the game for the Lilywhites, he will likely be brought on from the bench. Thanks to, a dearth of centre forwards in the team, Scarlett could feature some minutes for the senior team.

Tottenham are engaged in a raging battle against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa for the fourth spot on the Premier League table. Injury woes have troubled the North London outfits throughout the season.
