Tottenham loanee Timo Werner thanks the home fans for the support after his first goal for the club

Timo Werner thanks Tottenham Hotspur Stadium fans via his Instagram post, after scoring his first goal for the club. “What a special game 💪 thank you for your support 💥 #COYS” says the star. Werner was instrumental during the game.

The German international opened the scoreline for the home team in the 77th minute. His strike pulled the game level for the Lilywhites. Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son added a goal each to seal the game 3-1.

The former Chelsea man was taken off in the 82nd minute as a defensive move from the Spurs boss. Werner now has two assists and one goal from six Premier League matches. Brennan Johnson was to comment on Werner’s celebratory post: “Yesssssss bro”.

Johnson coming off the bench in the 63rd minute was the game-changer for Tottenham. The 22-year-old provided two assists in the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace. Timo Werner is enjoying support from his teammates on and off the pitch.

One goal worth millions

Timo Werner’s first goal for Tottenham means much more than numbers for the German international. He arrived in North London after a failed attempt at Chelsea to shine in the Premier League. The 27-year-old signed for Chelsea in 2020 after a scintillating tenure with RB Leipzig.

He couldn’t perform at the desired level with the Blues and returned to the Bundesliga in 2022. Unfortunately for Werner, his return to RB Leipzig didn’t go according to the plan. Ange Postecoglou signed Timo Werner on loan in January in an attempt to replace Heung-min Son, who was away on international duty.

Werner broke into the first team immediately and assisted in his first two games for Spurs. Tottenham Hotspur has never lost a game when Timo Werner started. They drew twice and won thrice in his five starts. Werner was kept on the bench in the Wolves clash, which they lost.

The RB Leipzig man is loaned to Spurs only until the end of the season. There is an option for a permanent switch to the squad. With Ange Postecoglou attempting to sign a few players in the summer window, Werner will want to do his best and prove his worth to the manager.
