Jamie O’Hara explains why he doesn’t want Tottenham legend Harry Kane to win the Champions League
New beginnings were the vibe at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium at the commencement of the ongoing season with the appointment of Ange Postecoglou and the departure of club icon Harry Kane.
The 30-year-old was linked with a move away from North London for a while before he finally called it a day on his Tottenham career and moved to Bayern Munich after nearly two decades at the club.
Harry Kane has already scored 33 goals in as many appearances for the German champions, the latest of two coming against Lazio in the Champions League as Bayern beat the Italian side 3-1 on aggregate to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Jamie O’Hara’s astonishing claim
Former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara says he doesn’t want to see Harry Kane win the Champions League this season. Speaking to Talksport, Jamie insisted he would have wanted the England international to win the Bundesliga rather than a Champions League triumph.
“I don’t know if I’d want him to win the Champions League, I wanted him to go out there and win the Bundesliga,” he said on the Sports Bar.
Cundy cross-questioned for the reasons behind such a statement, to which Jamie O’Hara responded: “Because he had the chance to do that with Spurs and we fluffed it, didn’t we?”
“He’s left us and if he goes and wins the Champions League, it’s almost like a, ‘Yeah see, I told you so, Spurs weren’t big enough so I moved on and got into a better team.’ I don’t know if I’d want Kane to win the Champions League, not yet, like next season is fine, because the first season he’s left… do you know what I mean?
“If it wasn’t for Ange [Postecoglou] coming in, we was in the mud and Ange got us out of a hole really and changed the fortunes and we look like we’re alright.
The 30-year-old has scored six goals in eight appearances for Bayern Munich in the Champions League and should play an influential role if Bayern were to go all the way in Europe’s most elite tournament.

Harry Kane was one step away from winning the Champions League with Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 although they went on to lose 2-0 to Liverpool in the finals. Now with Bayern Munich, Harry Kane has an opportunity to have another go at the prestigious Champions League silverware despite having a poor season domestically as Bayern Munich trail ten points to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.
