Tottenham ace Radu Dragusin lack of playing time raises concerns at home
Radu Dragusin moved to Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa for a fee reported to be in excess of £25 million. Spurs beat a late hijack attempt from Bayern Munich to land the Romanian central defender.
Radu Dragusin has penned down a contract at N17 till 2030. With only Micky van der Ven and Cristian Romero in their ranks who can play at really high level, Tottenham needed someone who is acclaimed enough to fill-in for them without compensating on the quality.
The 22-year-old was signed with ample anticipation since swapping Italy for England in early January, the Romania international has only featured thrice for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
All of the three appearances that came Radu’s way came off the substitutes’ bench as the 22-year-old former Juventus defender came on for Spurs in the final few minutes against Manchester United, Brentford and Everton.
Getting into a side with Cuti Romero and Van de Ven was always going to be a problem. Lack of minutes in Tottenham colors has become a bit of headlines in Romania.
Romania legend Florin Raducioiu, who has featured for another London club West Ham back in the mid-90s has been claiming headlines with his comments around the current situation that Dragusin is in at Tottenham. He insists that it’s “hard to believe he’ll play” as of now and that is more of a concern with Euro 2024 around the corner.
“In the case of Radu Dragusin, it is totally different. He knew very well where he was going. Great attention, because these two players, in this system that the Tottenham coach plays, are two fantastic players,” Florin Raducioiu spoke in in an interview with Prima Sport (via Sport Witness).
“Even [Cristian] Romero scored. He is an extraordinary player, a player so strong, so fast and so precise in his passes. It won’t be easy for Radu Dragusin, because, I repeat, he has two fantastic players in front of Ange.”
“I don’t know what will happen, but it’s hard to believe he’ll play. We might as well send one of our colleagues to a press conference if you want me to go.

The questions about his playing time has cause concerns home and away. Radu Dragusin will be waiting on the bench patiently hoping for an opportunity to impress as Tottenham continue their chase for the top-four spot.
