Tottenham faces heavy criticism from pundits and fans over season ticket price rise

Former Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor criticizes Tottenham‘s increasing season ticket prices while speaking on the talkSPORT podcast. It is learned that Spurs raised the season ticket value to generate more revenue, which is ironic considering their ‘richest club in London’ status.

The season ticket price has increased by six per cent compared to the previous season. The minimum season ticket costs £856, whereas one will have to shell out £2367 for the most expensive ticket. Gabby Agbonlahor was quick to criticise the club’s action by saying:

“Such a rich club (Tottenham), not winning any trophies as well. Yes, the football is better, it’s exciting football but hang on a second, maybe start winning some trophies, Spurs, before you start throwing up 6% rise.”

The club moved to the new stadium not so long ago. While the plan was to find a suitable sponsor for the grand arena, the club has failed to find one so far. This could be one of the main reasons behind the increased prices. However, the move has created an outrage among the Spurs ultras.

Being a Spurs fan is tough

Supporting Tottenham is not an easy job. While everything seemed to be moving in the right direction, there came another shocker in the form of a price rise. Tottenham Hotspur fans have endured all sorts of pain this season.

It all began with losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. There were little to no hopes from Ange Postecoglou but the Aussie quickly earned the fans’ trust by reinvigorating the team. Their dream run was put to a halt by injury woes and suspensions.

A handful of first-team players left for international duties and returned to a puzzled squad. They are now fighting for fourth place against underdogs Aston Villa which started from gunning for the title.
