Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou says Micky van de Ven’s injury isn’t serious

According to UK media outlet The Standard, Tottenham Hotspur boss plays down serious injury concerns regarding Micky van de Ven. The Spurs centre-back was forced to leave the field in the 46th minute, leaving the fans and the team worried.

The Dutchman strained his hamstring while blocking Aston Villa forward Leon Bailey’s shot towards goal. The incident occurred right after the half-time break and a little before Tottenham’s opening goal. He was replaced by January signing Radu Dragusin.

While the former Genoa put up a convincing performance in his first significant appearance, the fans are concerned over their star’s hamstring injury which appears to be recurring. However, the gaffer dismissed any major concerns. He said:

“I’m not sure, he (Micky van de Ven) doesn’t think it’s anything too significant. So disappointing for him because he was outstanding again up until that point.”

The Lilywhites head coach provided no further details about the injury or the return of the star, sending panic waves.

Micky is irreplaceable?

While Radu Dragusin did a fine job holding down the fort alongside Cristian Romero, the fans and the team need Micky van de Ven. The club’s downfall after a thumping start to the season coincided with Micky van de Ven’s injury.

The fateful event took place in November during the 1-4 loss against Chelsea where the 22-year-old was forced to leave the pitch after the first half. He was out of action for more than two months.

Tottenham endured four losses and one draw in nine games during that period. The club’s form once again coincided with van de Ven’s return, emphasizing the significance of the former Wolfsburg defender.
