Tottenham star Micky van de Ven acknowledges his partner in crime Cristian Romero
Micky van de Ven has been enjoying an impressive first season in the Premier League and at Tottenham Hotspur stadium as he has become an integral part of Ange Postecoglou’s side. He has been central to all the good things at are happening at N17.
The Dutch defender has shown his potential wearing the Lilywhites badge, especially with his recovery pace and ability to read the game. He is showing potential to become one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League in the coming years.
The 22-year-old has become the fastest player in history to reach a record-breaking speed of 37.38 km/h which has come with a couple of hamstring injuries and one of those hamstring pulls cane in the second half of the massive three points at Villa Park on Sunday. Although this one is not believed to be as significant as the first one that kept him out for ten games.
Micky has established a strong partnership with Cristian Romero at the heart of Spurs defence and there are indications of mutual respect between both, as the Former Wolfsburg star describes the Argentine as a ‘top-class player’ and spoke about how Romero helped Micky settle in at the club following his move to the club in the summer.
He also remarked how aggressiveness is Romero’s strength and the Argentine is not scared of anyone when he is on the pitch.
Speaking to Football. London, Micky van de Ven said:
“For me, Romero is world class. He won the World Cup but how you see him on
the pitch, he’s a leader. He wants to take the team and he’s always 100%. Sometimes of course people see also he’s a bit too aggressive, but he’s a top class player on the ball and without the ball with his defending. I can promise you that this guy is not scared of anyone and he keeps going every game. From the start he was here helping me. He was there from day one, helping me. He spoke with me and he helped me with the system they play because I wasn’t here for pre-season. He helped me at the beginning and he’s just a world class player.”
