Saudi clubs enter pursuit of Spurs target Raphinha
Tottenham Hotspur are involved in yet another transfer battle with noisy neighbours Arsenal as the North London duo compete to sign Barcelona winger Raphinha this summer.
The Brazilian’s future at Camp Nou has been under scrutiny lately, as he can be a potential financial sacrificial lamb that Barcelona can cash in on in the summer owing to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rule compliance.
The former Leeds United star has also struggled to nail down his position under Xavi. He has only started 12 games out of his 21 La Liga appearances this season, with a degradation in minutes coming due to the emergence of Lamine Yamal. Raphinha has made 37 goal contributions in 78 appearances since he moved to Barcelona.
Daily Mail insists that both North London clubs have sensed an opportunity with all the problems the 27-year-old is facing at Barcelona.
Raphinha, a cash cow for financially dredging Barcelona?
It’s no secret that Barcelona are in a financial mess, to a greater extent because of the decreased salary cap in the Spanish top division by over £50 million to £175 million. They will ideally be hoping for an auction situation in their potential sales, and that is what officials at going to get with Raphinha.
Alongside Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal, Saudi Pro clubs are also interested in signing Raphinha. One of the Saudi clubs has reportedly already made a £68 million offer for the 27-year-old.
We have seen the humongous amount of money that Saudi clubs have spent off-late, and that is what Barcelona would ideally like to expect to continue.
Tottenham will have to ensure they neither get dragged into any bidding war nor spend an astronomical sum of money for his services, which has a domino effect on potential recruitment for other positions.

It remains to be seen whether Raphinha will bid adieu to the Catalonian side and, if so, whether Spurs will be able to outbid Saudi clubs for his services.
