Real Madrid are in contention for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential blow in their pursuit of Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite, as Real Madrid have a ‘genuine’ interest in his services. Transfer insider Dean Jones has expressed to GIVEMESPORT that Los Blancos have an advantage in the race to land his signature.
Daniel Levy, in consultation with Ange Postecoglou, has started putting plans in place for the upcoming summer transfer window. Signing a central defender is on the agenda for the window, as the Everton defender is considered a possible target owing to his impressive performances in the Premier League for Sean Dyche’s side.
Everton positioned strongly in any negotiations to sell Jarrad Branthwaite.
The 21-year-old is expected to bid adieu to Goodison Park in the summer after his impressive performances have prompted him to be rewarded with a maiden call-up to the England senior squad, but his current employers have warned his suitors that they are holding out for a big fee.
Everton will walk into any negotiations that lead to Jarrad Branthwaite’s sale with cards in their hands if they are successful in maintaining their Premier League status.
Ancelotti influence in a Madrid transfer
Former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti can push Real Madrid’s intent to sign Jarrad Branthwaite. Ancelotti not only signed the 21-year-old but also believed in his abilities and continued to be impressed by his growth.
The Italian has a strong relationship with Branthwaite and can help Madrid’s resolve, as journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT:
“In the event that he does actually make a transfer, I would be cautious about ruling out Real Madrid. I’m not saying they are favourites to sign him, but I do believe their interest in him is genuine and it does make some sense.”
“Carlo Ancelotti not only knows him from when he was at Everton, but gave him his debut. He rated him back then and is apparently impressed by the way he has continued to grow.”
“I think the fact that Branthwaite has spent time on loan at PSV also says a lot about him as a person and puts extra faith in the fact he could adapt to playing in a different country.”
“At the moment, it still makes more sense that he would end up at another Premier League club, but if we are to look at another option, I do believe Real Madrid’s intent to be real.”
