Tottenham Hotspur eye Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson to bolster offensive options
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to fortify their offensive options in the upcoming summer as they weigh up a possible move for Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson.
Spurs have progressed considerably under Ange Postecoglou, and the summer window will prove a means to broaden the ceiling of the squad, and who better to do that than a player that has been likened to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.
His versatility can prove predominant for Tottenham, as the Iceland international can play across the front line. Gudmundsson can feature on the flanks as well as in the number ten and is regarded as one of the hottest prospects coming out of Serie A.
Gudmundsson has scored twelve goals and laid on four assists from 29 games for Alberto Gilardino’s side in the on-going campaign, which has led Italian giants Juventus to tap into acquiring his talent, according to Football.London.
Genoa are expecting a fee between £21.5 million and £26 million for Gudmundsson this summer. It represents a fair fee should the player go on to fulfil his potential in North London.
Tottenham tapping into the Italian market.
Spurs have been exploring the Italian market extensively over the past couple of years. They brought in Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur from Atalanta and Juventus, respectively, in the 2021/22 season. Destiny Udogie and Ivan Perisic were announced for 2022/23 from Udinese and Inter Milan, respectively, while the latter was brought in for a free transfer.
Finally, Spurs signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli in the summer and Radu Drăgușin from Genoa in the January transfer window.
