Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest fixture rescheduled amid travel chaos concerns
The Premier League calendar for the season has undergone another adjustment, with Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest being rescheduled.
Initially slated for Monday, April 8 at 8 pm, Spurs’ clash with Nottingham Forest has been moved forward by the Premier League. The match will now take place on Sunday, April 7, with a unique kick-off time of 6 pm GMT, as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side visit North London for the fixture.
The rescheduling of matches in the Premier League often aligns with TV schedules, and this particular change was no exception. However, unlike other instances, the decision to move the Tottenham vs. Nottingham Forest fixture forward was not solely due to television arrangements. Rather, it was prompted by the looming rail and tube strikes anticipated to disrupt travel on the original match day.
Despite the rescheduling, the game will still be televised as planned. The new kick-off time, set for 6 p.m., does overlap with another fixture between Sheffield United and Chelsea, which is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the late change (h/t The Athletic), a Premier League spokesperson issued an apology, expressing regret to supporters of both clubs and all affected parties.
“The change has been made due to matters beyond the League’s control, namely the decision to implement rail and tube strikes on Monday 8 April and the subsequent reduction in available travel services.
“This has resulted in the local authority’s Safety And Advisory Group determining that it is not possible to stage the match with the required levels of safety for attending fans.”

Late kick-off times in conjunction with public transportation can indeed be a worry for supporters, especially when faced with the prospect of spending the night at stations due to strikes. While it’s positive that the Premier League has acknowledged the inconvenience posed by the strikes, it’s equally important to address the broader travel challenges that fans encounter regularly.
As for the Tottenham vs. Nottingham Forest fixture, it’s now slated for Monday, April 8, kicking off at 8 p.m. This adjustment provides some clarity amid the uncertainties caused by the strikes.
