Unity forming behind the scenes among Ange Postecoglou summer signings

As Ange Postecoglou has come through the doors at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he has brought an elite talent ID to the club. Gone are the days when transfers at N17 were his or hers; lately, the club has found a way to not only sign players that extend the ceiling of the team but also have the potential to be exceptional in their position.

Two of the marquee signings of the summer came in defender Micky van de Ven in a deal worth £34.5 million from Wolfsburg, alongside Brennan Johnson, who signed for the North Londoners from Nottingham Forest in a £47.5 million deal. While the former has gone on to become one of the most exciting defenders in the Premier League, the latter is scoring for his new employers left, right, and centre.

While individual quality is important, football is a team sport, and a sense of unity off the pitch is equally predominant. At Hotspur Way, the squad looks like a family, and the Australian gaffer has inculcated a very friendly culture at the club that is reaping massive benefits in terms of chemistry on the pitch.

As the players get familiar with one another, new bonds and friendships are formed, while old ones are cemented. We are seeing another bond forming among two of the club’s summer signings as Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson post Instagram stories acknowledging one another.

The Welsh international posted a story on Instagram with Micky at the gym at Hotspur Way with the caption “My Boy,”  while the Holland international responded to that by writing “My Brother.” This shows the bonds that are forming at Tottenham off late; it’s not team-mates, it’s brotherhood, and that is when they fight for one another.
