Giovani Lo Celso: A Century at Tottenham Hotspur
Giovani Lo Celso has completed a century of appearances wearing the Tottenham Hotspur badge after coming on as a substitute in the second half of Spurs’ 2-1 win over Luton Town at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend.
The North Londoners signed the Argentine midfielder for a then club record-equaling €60m (£55.3m) from Real Betis in January 2020, although he did feature wearing the Lilywhites badge before his permanent move. Lo Celso moved to White Hart Lane on an initial loan deal in the summer of 2019.
From the current roster at Hotspur Way, he joins Heung-Min Son (400), Ben Davies (329), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (176) and Oliver Skipp (102) in Tottenham Hotspur’s 100 appearances club.
Following his milestone for the club, his international teammate awarded him with a memorabilia frame that depicts Lo Celso’s achievement wearing the Spurs badge. He put out an Instagram story expressing his gratitude to Tottenham for the gift.
The Argentine midfielder has struggled to find his feet at N17 after only scoring 10 goals and further providing eight assists in his stay at Tottenham.
Though there are huge expectations of him under Ange Postecoglou this season, he has registered a couple of goals and assists in only 443 minutes of football in the ongoing campaign.

Lo Celso appeared to reignite his career in England earlier this season, following his goal against Manchester City and a top-drawer effort against Bournemouth. However, aside from that, the 27-year-old has hardly made any impact, and he continues to suffer on the bench.
He may have headed to Catalonia in January, but the club turned down a Barcelona loan offer for Lo Celso. There are expectations that he may still move on from Tottenham soon.
