Tottenham Hotspur are the potential kingmakers in the Premier League title race
The Premier League is enjoying one of the closest seasons in its recent history as three undeniably outstanding teams compete for the top spot. While the race to the Premiership intensifies, Tottenham Hotspur could have an integral role to play in the outcome of the season’s Champions, whichever of the three wins.
Spurs under Ange Postecoglou are undergoing a major overhaul, and they have magnifically progressed since the Australian gaffer took charge of the North Londoners last summer. The vibes at N17 have been immaculate, as the club has gone from one of the struggling big names to one of the most exciting teams in Europe.
Tottenham are fighting demons of their own as they look to finish in the traditional top four positions in the current campaign. A UEFA Champions League qualification will state the progress that the club is making in material terms. The Lilywhites are fighting Aston Villa and Manchester United for a European elite finish going into the business end of the season.
Spurs still have a big role to play in the outcome of the season
All games have to be tight, as a lot is at stake for Spurs and for others, especially the three above Tottenham in the Premier League table. Ange Postecoglou side are to face each of the three in the upcoming weeks, which will not only decide the outcome of Tottenham’s season but also determine the Premier League champions.
Liverpool cult hero Danny Murphy acknowledges how the North Londoners can defy the season’s outcome; he writes in his BBC column:
“I have a sneaky feeling that Tottenham are going to have a big say in who ends up as champions because on their day they can beat anyone, and they still have to play all of the top three.
“Spurs are going for the Champions League places and have a wonderful group of players but, on top of that, they have got this chaotic, front-foot, way of playing where anything can happen, home or away.”
