Knee concerns sideline Richarlison again for Tottenham Hotspur

Richarlison is facing another week on the sidelines as he is set to miss Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Newcastle United at the weekend.

Ange Postecoglou & Co. are set to be without Richarlison for the game against Newcastle United in the Premier League later today owing to knee problems.

The Brazilian forward missed the Spurs fixture against Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and started the three games before the Nottingham fixture from the bench due to knee problems that he has been carrying for a while. The 26-year-old was initially expected back for today’s fixture, although he will continue to be rested for the game with a keen eye on his availability deep into the season.

Speaking about the former Everton star, who barely recovered to serve his country during last month’s international break, Ange Postecoglou said that Richy “is close” and reinitiated the face that “he’s progressing quite well.”

As the Australian gaffer stated, the 26-year-old’s knee issue is not expected to be serious, and he should be among the ranks to feature soon.

When asked about Richarlison ahead of the club’s game against Newcastle, Ange Postecoglou said (via. Football.London):

“Yeah, he’ll miss this week. He is close but with the weekend off next week, we feel and with the last two rounds stacked with games for us, we feel having him ready for that is more important, but he’s progressing quite well.”

Richarlison has found his feet under Ange; there was high pressure on his knee going; he was under enormous expectation to perform well heading into the season, and he has found his form, scoring 10 goals and assisting three times.

Spurs supporters will be hoping that there is nothing serious with his knee and that we get to see Richy back soon.
