Tottenham Hotspur are vying to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, per The Mirror, as his contract at Craven Cottage runs out at the conclusion of the ongoing season, and his latest performance at the weekend has been rewarded with a mention in Garth Crooks Team of the Week.

The Lilywhites are expected to be in the market to sign a central defender in the upcoming summer transfer window, as the club lacks quality depth in the position. To put it into context, Ange Postecoglou was forced to play full-backs at the heart of defense this season. Although Tottenham did bring in Radu Dragusin in January from Genoa in a £26.7 million (€31 million) deal with the Italian club after the Romanian international chose to join the North Londoners over Bayern Munich.

While the club has been linked with multiple defenders since the end of the winter transfer window, links for Tosin Adarabioyo have intensified over the past week. The 26-year-old comes with Premier League experience, and the club would not have to shell out a single penny to bring his services to White Hart Lane.

Fulham has been trying to extend Tosin Adarabioyo’s contract at the Craven Cottage to no success, as both parties could not come to terms despite the West Londoners offering a significant pay rise on his current deal.

Marco Silva’s side made a short trip to West Ham to face the Hammers in the Premier League last weekend. The Cottagers did come out of the London Stadium with three points thanks to an Andreas Pereira brace, though the clean slate on the other side was all down to hard work by Calvin Bassey and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Garth Crooks, writing in his BBC Team of the Week column, wrote about the Tottenham target: “Notable mentions should go to Calvin Bassey and Tosin Adarabioyo, who defended particularly well and never gave Danny Ings or Michael Antonio a kick all afternoon.”
