Tottenham open to offers for out-of-favour star Bryan Gil
Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to let go of a silky, flairy and versatile attacking midfielder in Erik Lamela for Bryan Gil back in 2021 has not been as beneficial as we thought it would be. 23-year-old Gil, ever since his move to Hotspur Way has failed to make a place for himself in the XI, mostly due to injury issues.
Speaking on Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast via BBC, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke confirmed that Gil is considered surplus to requirements at Tottenham.
Gil has made only 11 appearances in all competitions this season, failing to score a goal or provide any assists. His lack of playing time has been a source of frustration for the winger, who has found himself behind other options in Postecoglou’s squad.
Gil back to Spain?
The Spanish attacker spent time on loan at Valencia and Sevilla, his former club, during his tenure with Spurs. Despite returning to the club with hopes of making an impact, Gil has struggled to impress when given the chance.
Gil is likely to return to Spain permanently this summer, with the player eager to secure regular playing time that has eluded him at Tottenham. His current situation in England has left him dissatisfied, and a move back to La Liga seems to be on the cards.
Injuries have also played a part in disrupting Gil’s campaign, further limiting his opportunities to make an impression. Even when fit, Postecoglou has often overlooked the winger, with Gil accumulating only 189 minutes of Premier League action this season.
The limited game time has seen Gil make only sporadic appearances, including a brief cameo in an FA Cup tie against Burnley where he played just over half an hour but a bloody good few minutes as he was full of energy off the bench.

As Tottenham look ahead to rebuilding their squad for next season, it appears that Bryan Gil will be among the players departing the club. With his desire for regular playing time and the lack of opportunities at Spurs, a move away seems to be in the best interests of both the player and the club.
