Another one bites the dust as Destiny Udogie injury adds to Tottenham’s woes
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered an injury blow going into the business end of the season as Destiny Udogie is ruled out for the final run-in of the 2023–24 campaign.
The Lilywhites left-back confirmed via social media that he wouldn’t be able to take the field this season following an unspecified surgery.
Going into the upcoming games without the Italian international would be a massive blow for Ange Postecoglou, as the 21-year-old established himself as an undisputed key player for the club, with his all-around abilities crucial to the team’s success. His debut season in England has been nothing but impressive, as young Udogie has shown great promise, quickly adapting to the league’s demands and exceeding expectations at White Hart Lane.
The North Londoners signed Destiny Udogie in a £21 million deal from Udinese, although he was sent back to the Italian side on loan before he officially arrived at N17 last summer. He certainly made the left-back position his own, inverting at will and ensuring defensive objectives when the team needed them while having an offensive impact on a consistent basis. The 21-year-old has recorded three assists while scoring a couple of times in 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Young star posts message on Social Media
Destiny Udogie, citing his injury and surgery, posted on Instagram a picture of him in a hospital alongside his mother with the caption, “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. An injury brings my season to an early end. It doesn’t take away from how grateful I am to every person that has supported me this year.”
