Levy’s bargain hunt? Tottenham target free transfer defenders to bolster backline
Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for some valuable additions to the current roster, and centre-back is expected to be one of the positions that the club is looking for reinforcement for this summer. Spurs have been linked with multiple defenders from around Europe, particularly from the Premier League.
There is a need for defensive depth at the N17 this season. To put it into context, Ange Postecoglou was forced to play fullbacks in the heart of the defence this season. The North Londoners did sign Radu Dragusin in January from Genoa in a £26.7 million (€31 million) deal with the Italian club after the Romanian international chose to join the North Londoners over Bayern Munich. However, the club is expected to push through on a new defensive acquisition this summer.
Osho, Adarabioyo, Kelly – Tottenham eye trio of free agent centre-back
The Lilywhites are reportedly lining up a couple of free transfers from rival Premier League clubs, per the Express. Daniel Levy & Co. are plotting a free summer move for Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho to reinforce Spurs defence around Micky van de Ven.
Osho’s contract at Kenilworth Road is up in the summer, and Tottenham are considering bringing him to the roster this summer. Osho is a versatile defender who primarily plays as a centre-back, although he can feature along the defensive line and in the defensive midfield.
He is a low-cost option for Ange & Co. However, Tottenham League rivals Aston Villa and Fulham are also in a race to acquire Osho.
Tottenham are also eyeing Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, with their contracts with their respective current employers set to expire at the end of the season.
