Gudmundsson to N17? Tottenham lead transfer race for Icelandic “Salah”
Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in signing Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson in the summer window; however, the Serie A giants are demanding hefty fees for his services.
The North Londoners have considerably progressed under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou, and the club would be looking to make some signings that expand the ceiling of the roster available at the Australian gaffer’s disposal. When talking about expanding the potential of the squad, who better to do so than a player that has been likened to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.
Tottenham hope to capitalize on rival’s struggles to sign Gudmundsson
Albert Gudmundsson has been the player who has made noise in the Italian top division owing to his versatility and exemplary performance. He has caught the eye of some of the elite clubs in Europe, as the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Juventus are interested in his services alongside Spurs.
Among the potential suitors, the North Londoners are leading the race as favorites owing to the relationship that Daniel Levy and the officials at N17 have with Genoa, which has only strengthened following Radu Dragusin’s £26.7 million (€31 million) deal from Genoa after the Romanian international chose to join Spurs over Bayern Munich in January.
While any possibility of Djed Spence becoming a permanent transfer helps Tottenham in their bid to secure the 26-year-old’s services.
However, Genoa are asking for over €30 million for Albert Gudmundsson, which is hefty fees for the likes of financially troubled Inter Milan, which makes it a complicated pursuit for Nerazzurri to sign him. (h/t Caught Offside)
