Money talks as Tottenham outbid Barcelona for Youngster Lucas Bergvall with lucrative wages
Tottenham Hotspur beat the competition from Barcelona for the signatures of Lucas Bergvall owing to the significant wages offered by Daniel Levy & Co. to lure him to White Hart Lane, per Fotboll Direkt.
The North Londoners acquired the services of Lucas Bergvall in the winter transfer window, which was seen as a major coup for the club as Spurs brought one of the most talented youngster in Scandinavian football in a deal reportedly worth around £8.6 million. He is set to board a flight to Heathrow in the upcoming summer transfer window.
This fits right into the kind of profiles that Daniel Levy & Co. are hoping to attract as the club moves their transfer policies to signing young players with top potential who can be shaped as per Ange Postecoglou’s long-term needs. However, it was not an easy decision to sign Lucas Bergvall owing to his talent, which attracted clubs from around Europe.
Barcelona were one of the clubs looking to snap him up; however, they came up short to the financial powers of Tottenham Hotspur as Daniel Levy offered a hard bargain that the Catalan club could not meet.
While official for Djurgården, Bergvall’s current employers, Peter Kisfaludy, insists that the 18-year-old did not choose moving to North London over Barcelona for money, the report by Fotboll Direkt highlights that the Lilywhites have exercised their financial might to land his services.
