Next big thing down under? Tottenham Hotspur target Australian youngster
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Australian 19-year-old prodigy Thomas Waddingham in the upcoming summer transfer window, and the Lilywhites are leading the race to his signatures, per Football Insider.
The Lilywhites have changed their transfer policy lately as they are keeping a keen eye on signing high-potential young profiles who can be shaped as per Ange Postecoglou’s long-term needs. Daniel Levy & Co. are looking into Ange’s home country for their next prototype as Spurs intensify their bid to sign the Brisbane Roar striker.
A brief on Thomas Waddingham
The 19-year-old is a striker by trade and has been enjoying a purple patch lately, netting five goals in his last nine games as he continues to make an impression in his breakout season with A-League side Brisbane Roar.
Thomas Waddingham has been scoring goals left, right, and centre. He is just two goals behind the league’s top goal scorer, Nestory Irankunda, who is set to join Bayern Munich. These have caught the eye of several European clubs, including the German giants; however, the North Londoners are considered to be the frontrunners for the 19-year-old’s signatures.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been potentially tipped about the Australian U-23 ace’s potential by his contacts in the A-League, and the club has started to march in on sealing a deal to bring him to the N17.
He came into the limelight last season after netting four goals in five Australia Cup appearances for the Brisbane-based side last season.
