Chelsea could field Academy players in the league game against Tottenham

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he might throw in a few academy lads for the upcoming fixture against Tottenham. That could be a prime chance for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs to capitalise on Chelsea’s injury troubles and aim for all three points at Stamford Bridge.

With the Blues facing a bit of a crisis, some younger players from Chelsea’s academy might get a shot. Oh, how the turntables. Injury crisis for Chelsea as they gear up to face Tottenham for the second time this season. Last time around, two of our crucial players came off the pitch due to injury against the Blues.

Nevertheless, here is what Pochettino had to say via Chelsea’s official website:

“Every single game is challenge for us and now tomorrow we have a big challenge against a great team like Tottenham. It is going to be good, it is going to be a nice game to play.”

“It is a great opportunity for some kids to be on the bench and to have the possibility maybe to play. When this opportunity appears it is about being conscious and saying: “come on, step up”.”

“I think it’s a great opportunity tomorrow and for sure it’s going to be a great game.”

Chelsea are not the first club in the world with injury issues.

For Tottenham, it’s all about focusing on their own game, regardless of who Chelsea decide to start. They couldn’t care less about the opposition’s lineup; their only goal is maximum points.

Sure, Chelsea’s injury situation might give Spurs a bit of an edge, but it’s not about exploiting weaknesses. It’s about playing their game, giving it their all, and coming away with a win. Postecoglou will be drilling that into his squad, making sure they’re ready to take on whatever Chelsea throw at them. After all, they are the ones who put off our entire campaign.

It’s not just about facing Chelsea or their youngsters. This game is an opportunity to make a statement and a big one at that. It’s about showing what Tottenham are made of and leaving Stamford Bridge with nothing less than a victory.
